stupid ass deployment :(

well I played a 2250 pts game versus AB's nids just now... and I screwed up.
right at deployment, I must have had a blackout or something:

as you can see arjan put all his fast units, hormagaunts(Horm) and flying tyrant(F), on his left flank for fear of me infiltrating my devastators(d1,d2), tacicals(T1,T2) and scouts(scouts, snipe) on that lil old Hill over there. ( I damn well payed 90 points extra for that infiltration beezwax!)
Now what I SHOULD have done is put them all down as tidy as possible on the right side of the board where I could easily kill off all his synapse (T, warr, F, Z) with my whoopass fire base and finish off the remaining scuttlers with bolters. His fast units would have been too far out of range to do any good. Sort of a "refused flank" tactic and his lictors wouldn't be able to deepstrike in them ruins because they'dland on my troops and die, which would have worked grandiously.
But nooooooOOOOOOOOooooooooooo, what does mister erwin do? he puts his strongest firing doods right in front of the swarmy army cause now he can shoot everything at everything on turn 1...... Which ended in a massacre of the scouts, T2, D1 and D2.
Pretty crappy. it sucks losing a game on deployment errors. but ah well... I'll right me a checklist next time round.
I just notics I forgot to pu in T1, they should be right around the dread and techmarine (D and T in blue).

But as that wasn'bad enough, I forgot to roll for my deep striking terminators on turns 2 and 3 and turn 4 ended up with me rolling a 1 on the reserves roll for them.... you can understand my perdickement.

weep,
-E

So can you play this with Kurk-Man too?

you placed your scouts infront of your dev sqs boyo!

Wrong deployment sucks kurk..but that doesn't mean my hormagaunts didn't kick major butt.

My normal tyrant did almost nothing he was as slow as a white man on slippers. Only thing he did was keeping 2 speeders from shooting one turn and taking a wound off of the dance commander.

Flying Tyrant reaped when he finally got around to doing something (destroyed a Dread and killed IIRC the entire scout sq.)

Unit of the game: my old lictor which took out the Predator Annihilator single 'handedly' without having to use his rending claws. Take S6 up that fueltank!!

About Kurkman:

WS 3
BS 4 (if he takes a bottle for a weapon)
S 3 (4 if he took the bottle)
T 4 (he can take a punch)
W 2 (can still fight if you snip a bit off)
I 2 (10 if shot by the bottleweapon...special assault move)
LD: 10
Save: 5+ ..it stays kurk..

Special thingies:
Fearless (no fear for anything..kurks don't have fear).

Weapon
if it chooses to take the bottle as a weapon it has a higher strength, it can be shot just as a bullet or as a special assault move.

You don't have to ask permission from your opponent to take Kurk-man.
Kurk man is taken as a HQ choice cause he is a leader of course!

Damnit what a load of bullshit ;)

WTF is a Kurkman!?!?

Hmm dude, your deployment definitely looks quite owwie. Im surprised you left the Sniper scouts on their own. Also, if you PAID to infiltrate your marines, WHY IN THE HELL ARE THEY SO FAR BACK?!?!? You could have been evil and force Arjan wayyy back into the corner. Oh well live and learn i guess. Although it was a good idea to semi spread things out, i would have been evil and put things in the hills (at least the horde would be going literally all over the map).

Im surprised by your use of Assault marines (even against a Nid Horde, i wouldnt take them =x).

Shame the Termies didnt come to play, as im sure that would have helped a bit (how did you manage to forget them? Didnt you have them sitting near the table edge?)

I look forward to seeing Arjan's pov on the situation :P

On the brightside, if it was MY Nid horde, at least you wouldnt have to worry about being shot at :P

lol indeed.

I can't "push"him back with infiltration. But the main idea was that I could put up my fire bases and line blockers (scouts and tacticals) in the perfect position based on Ab's deployment (ie as far away from his fast units as possible).

But arjan I DID deploy my scouts BEHIND my devastators, I just moved them in front on turn 1

lol, well I think i got some blackout or something during deployment there.

I'm gonna wright me a book full of tactics and bring it everywhere I go play a game. That way I ain't forgetting and I won't do none of that stupid ass infiltratin' anymo!
ya heard!

I'm just saying:
"if you're going for the king, you best not miss!"

btw ..Kurk man..is a figure Maarten thought up and made a comic about.

It's a kork (like those in wine bottles) and he's supposed to be some kind of superhero ;)

Ok, so NOW i understand the idea of Kurkman....

Hmm a lil tactics book isnt that bad, you can have your own Codex: Tactica with you at all times now :P

Well you could have 'semi' pushed his guys back since you cant deploy X inches near your enemy.

Oh well, next time maybe.. =x

meh, nids couldn't care less about the you have to deploy more then x inches away from theenemy unless it's 24".
Damn gaunts are almost always a turn 1 CC garantee(sp?)

Nids don't care period.
